Why watch

• Nicolas Roeg directs this fantasy-horror blend with a distinctive visual style
• Features Anjelica Huston in a memorable role as the mysterious Miss Eva Ernst
• Based on Roald Dahl's novel, combining dark fantasy with adventure elements

Good for: Viewers who enjoy darker fantasy stories; note the horror elements mean it may not suit very young children despite the fantastical premise.
